Parent Policy Council

Participate and Make a Difference in Your Child's Education

The Parent Policy Council consists of parent representatives from EOCF centers. Parent Policy Council shares program governance with the Board of Directors, management staff and the Executive Director of EOCF.

In addition, Parent Policy Council offers opportunities to attend state and national level conferences that focus on advocacy and early childhood education. Being on Parent Policy Council will give parents the skills to advocate towards a greater education for their children.

Lend Your Voice

Parents can lend their voice in making decisions about program design, personnel, budgets, operation of the agency and the quality of services to their children.

News to Know

  • The 2008-2009 Parent Policy Council is an enthusiastic, motivated group. They've been busy updating Policy Council bylaws, representing EOCF at WSA's Advocacy Day in Olympia, reviewing and approving EOCF budget and policy changes, and actively representing the concerns of EOCF centers and classrooms.
  • If you are curious about the shared decision making role of Parent Policy Council within EOCF and would like to see your center representatives in action, consider attending a Policy Council (PC) meeting. PC meetings are held the first Wednesday of every month from 6-8 p.m. at the Sandra J. Odren Family Center, 10411 N.E. 4th Plain Blvd., Ste. 138, Vancouver. Dinner is served at 5 p.m. and childcare is provided.
  • If you’d like to attend a meeting, please contact Debra Samuel, Family Involvement Coordinator, at (360)567-2727 to obtain a meeting agenda and let her know if you’ll be joining the Policy Council for dinner or require childcare. If your center or program is not currently represented by PC, new nominations are accepted throughout the year. Contact Debra Samuel to have your nomination placed on the Policy Council agenda.
